Tyler Hoechlin joins Supergirl: What does this mean for the future of the show?

Tyler Hoechlin was one of our favorite characters from MTV’s Teen Wolf, playing the role of our favorite Alpha werewolf, Derek Hale (Sorry Scott!). If you are a fan of the show, you know that Season 4 of Teen Wolf was Tyler’s last, and fans were really upset with the news of him leaving the show. Well, now is the time to rejoice - fans will be able to finally see Tyler Hoechlin on-screen again as he will be joining CW’s Supergirl show as no other than our favorite Kal-El a.k.a Superman!
Since the first episode of Supergirl, the directors have kept the presence of Superman in Kara’s (Supergirl) life. However, they have finally put a face on the character. It has been finally revealed that our favorite alpha werewolf, Tyler Hoechlin, would be trading his fangs for a cape. He will be playing the character of Superman in the DC Universe’s show Supergirl. But how is that going to affect the show’s story? Sure, Superman has always been there in Kara’s life while providing her some moral strength, however, he’s never had any direct involvement in the story line. Now that CW has finally hired an actor to play the role, it is obvious that he is going to have some direct involvement in the storyline.

The last episode of Supergirl’s Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, with a Kryptonian pod crashing in the National city. Now, the interesting question is who is in the pod. Our best guess right now is that it could be Zod. This is highly likely as if are not a Superman fanatic, Zod is a Superman villain, he is Kryptonian and one evil individual. And him landing on the Earth could mean a huge trouble for Kara. It is a possibility that she might seek help from her dearest cousin Superman to fight Zod. This could explain the reason behind CW hiring Tyler Hoechlin. Nonetheless, at this time, there is no proof to say for sure. The only thing to wonder is if Tyler Hoechlin will become a series regular, or will he just pay occasional visits to Kara like the virtual chat-box Superman from season 1? We’ll just have to wait till the fall premiere to find out!
